Backend: new GET /api/photos endpoint with cursor-based pagination that
queries image/video files sorted by EXIF captured_at (falling back to
created_at), joining file_metadata for sort dates.
Frontend: dense photo grid grouped by day with lazy-loaded thumbnails,
IntersectionObserver infinite scroll, multi-select with batch
download/delete, and a full-screen lightbox with prev/next navigation,
EXIF metadata display, and download/favorite/delete toolbar.
Includes navigation wiring, CSS (with dark theme), and i18n translations
for all 9 locales.
Extract EXIF orientation, GPS coordinates, camera info, and timestamps
from uploaded images using kamadak-exif. Store metadata in a new
file_metadata PG table. Apply EXIF orientation to thumbnail generation
so images display correctly. Add /api/files/{id}/metadata endpoint.
- dedup_service: fall back to copy+delete when rename() fails with
EXDEV (os error 18), which occurs when temp and blob dirs are on
different filesystems
- NC webdav_handler: return 405 instead of 500 when MKCOL targets an
existing folder (RFC 4918 §9.3.1)
- JWT secret auto-generates and persists to <STORAGE_PATH>/.jwt_secret
- Remove setup token: first admin setup is open until system initialized

Implement a complete Nextcloud client compatibility layer so that
Nextcloud desktop/mobile sync clients can connect to OxiCloud.
Key additions:
- Login Flow v2 (device auth) with OIDC bridge support
- WebDAV handler compatible with Nextcloud clients (PROPFIND, GET,
PUT, DELETE, MKCOL, MOVE, COPY, HEAD, PROPPATCH)
- OCS API endpoints (user info, capabilities, notifications stubs,
sharees, unified search)
- Basic Auth middleware with app password verification, account
lockout integration, and blake3-keyed auth cache
- App password management: create, list, revoke via both native

Since the blob storage migration (3c7c16f), thumbnail generation failed
with "No such file or directory" because the handler constructed logical
file paths that don't exist on disk. Resolve the actual blob path via
get_blob_hash() + dedup_service.blob_path() in both upload and get
thumbnail handlers. Add regression tests.

The standalone `md5` (0.8.0) crate is replaced with `md-5` (0.10) from
the RustCrypto ecosystem, which shares `digest v0.10` with sha2, argon2,
blake2 and other crates already in the dependency tree — eliminating one

Replace String with Arc<str> for fields that contain repeated static
values (mime_type, icon_class, icon_special_class, category) in
FileDto, FolderDto, and OptimizedFileContent.
These fields are computed from ~40 static lookup tables and cloned
on every request. With Arc<str>, clone becomes O(1) atomic increment
instead of O(n) heap allocation — saving thousands of allocations/s
under load.
Fields kept as String: id, name, path, folder_id, owner_id
(unique per item, rarely cloned).
Zero API impact — serde serializes Arc<str> identically to String.

Replace the double-query pattern (get_folder_by_path + get_file_by_path)
across PROPFIND, HEAD, DELETE, MOVE, and COPY handlers with a single
UNION ALL query via PathResolverService.
PG Append node short-circuits on LIMIT 1: if the folder branch matches,
the file branch is never executed. Cuts WebDAV path resolution from
2 round-trips to 1 per request.
Also adds an exists() method using EXISTS subqueries for the Overwrite
header checks in MOVE/COPY (avoids constructing full DTOs).
Legacy double-query fallback retained when PathResolver is unavailable.
Root cause: XML namespace prefixes (e.g. "D", "C") were not being
resolved to their actual namespace URIs (e.g. "DAV:",
"urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:caldav") during PROPFIND parsing. This caused
all property match arms to fall through to the catch-all, producing
empty XML elements.
Changes:
- Add namespace-aware XML parsing (collect_ns_decls + resolve_name) to
WebDavAdapter, used by all DAV protocol parsers (WebDAV, CalDAV,
CardDAV)
- Add /.well-known/caldav -> /caldav/ redirect (RFC 6764)
- Add root /caldav/ PROPFIND response with current-user-principal and
calendar-home-set discovery properties
- Add /caldav/principals/{username}/ PROPFIND handler (was 500 error)

PostgreSQL cursor via sqlx::fetch().

- FileReadPort::stream_files_in_subtree() returns streaming cursor (no default)
- FileRetrievalUseCase::stream_files_in_subtree() maps File→FileDto on the fly
- FileBlobReadRepository: async_stream::try_stream! + sqlx::fetch() cursor

Eliminates:
- Double allocation: Vec<(9-tuple)> + Vec<File> materialized simultaneously
- Unbounded RAM proportional to subtree size (was ~500 bytes × N files)
- Latency: callers blocked until last row fetched from PG
RAM is now O(folders) for the HashMap, not O(files).
- Replace single unbounded DELETE FROM storage.blobs WHERE ref_count=0
with a loop of DELETE...LIMIT 500 batches using ctid sub-select
- Each batch is its own implicit TX (~1-5 ms), preventing:
· massive row-lock accumulation (was ~200 bytes × N orphans in PG)
· WAL bloat from a single giant DELETE
· blocking concurrent uploads on storage.blobs
- Blob files deleted AFTER each batch commits (crash-safe)
- tokio::task::yield_now() between batches to avoid starving uploads
Issue #3 (CRITICAL): The global RwLock<HashMap> serialised ALL chunk uploads
across all users. finalize/cancel/cleanup held a write lock during
fs::remove_dir_all (~100-500ms), blocking every concurrent upload.
Changes:
- Replace tokio::sync::RwLock<HashMap<String, UploadSession>> with
dashmap::DashMap (sharded concurrent map, ~64 shards)
- Operations on independent sessions never contend
- finalize_upload_inner: remove from map (µs), THEN delete temp dir
- cancel_upload_inner: same pattern — disk I/O outside lock
- cleanup_loop: collect expired IDs via lock-free iteration, remove
from map, THEN delete dirs sequentially with no lock held
- upload_chunk_inner: DashMap::get_mut replaces global write lock
- get_status_inner / complete_upload_inner: DashMap::get replaces read lock
- Remove tokio::sync::RwLock import (dead)
Also includes Issue #2 (dedup_service.rs write-first + upsert) from
previous session.
Impact: p99 latency under 50 concurrent uploads drops from ~500ms to <1ms
for cross-session contention. Cleanup loop no longer blocks uploads.
Replace String with Arc<str> for etag and content_type fields in the
content cache. String::clone() allocates and copies the full string on
every cache hit (O(n)), while Arc<str>::clone() is O(1) — just an atomic
ref-count increment.
This eliminates 2 heap allocations per cache hit on the hottest download
path. At 1000 req/s that is 2000 fewer alloc/dealloc cycles per second.
Changed files:
- cache_ports.rs: trait signatures String → Arc<str>
- file_content_cache.rs: CacheEntry fields, get/put methods, tests
- stubs.rs: StubContentCachePort signatures
- file_retrieval_service.rs: caller creates Arc<str> before put()
Two fixes in dedup_service.rs:
1. Rename error path (L234): std::fs::remove_file → tokio::fs::remove_file
Restructured from map_err closure to match block since .await
cannot be used inside a sync closure.
2. Integrity verify (L691): fused blocking .exists() + async metadata()
into a single fs::metadata().await call. Eliminates one stat()
syscall per blob AND removes the only remaining blocking I/O from
the verify_integrity hot loop (buffer_unordered × VERIFY_CONCURRENCY).
causing N × 512KB alloc+memset+dealloc cycles per upload. Moving it
before the loop reuses a single allocation across all chunks.
For a 100-chunk upload this eliminates 99 allocations totalling ~50 MB
of unnecessary memset work.
