Edouard Vanbelle 7663f803d3 fix: fix services accessig directly to localstorage
Prevent services accessing directly to localstorage and prefer using an astraction layer
to expose full blob. The abstraction layer (dedup services) will cover backend storage
election (local, s3, ...), encryption, etc

This change permit audio_metadata_service, media_metadaa_service, face_indexing_service to handle
blobs without worring of the backend.

note: prefered way to handle blob is the streamed way. Some services may not have this possibility

Claude 1ec7030cc7 perf: round 23 — Postgres query-shape pass: typed JSONB decode, drive-policy borrow-deserialize, user-profile join!, subject-group CTE reuse, dedup unzip
Benchmark-gated, same rule as ROUND2-22: BEFORE/AFTER with a value-equivalence
gate and rollback-on-regression. Two harnesses — bench_round23_micro (no
Postgres; deterministic allocation gate) and bench_round23_queries (live
Postgres; p50 latency + strict equivalence gate against seeded fixtures). See
benches/ROUND23.md.

- J1: contact_pg_repository::row_to_contact (+ the inlined contact_group sibling)
  decode the 3 JSONB columns via sqlx::types::Json<T> (one from_slice pass)
  instead of row.get::<serde_json::Value> + from_value (a throwaway Value DOM
  per column, walked a second time). Per contact row of every list / multiget /
  CardDAV sync. Micro 84 -> 33 allocs/op (2.15x); PG 3794 -> 2360 ns/contact
  (1.61x) on 500 real rows.
- J2: DrivePolicies::from_value deserializes straight from the borrow
  (T::deserialize(&Value)) instead of from_value(value.clone()) — dropping the
  full-DOM clone on every drive-policy read (move/copy, share, grant); one-line
  body change, all 7 callers unchanged. Micro 5 -> 0 allocs/op (11.51x).
- P1: get_user_profile overlaps the two independent caller+target reads with
  tokio::join! (self-case still a single fetch; caller-error precedence
  preserved via caller_res? first) instead of two serial round-trips. PG
  577 -> 312 us/call (1.85x).
- G1: subject_group remove_member computes the child's transitive-user recursive
  CTE once and reuses it for both the would-empty pre-check and the cache
  invalidation, instead of running the identical CTE twice (the edge delete is
  above the child, so its descendants can't change). PG 829 -> 412 us/removal
  (2.01x).
- U1: dedup_service (store_loose_chunks final registration + the ingest
  run_rollback) reshapes the owned, dead-after Vec<(String,i64)> via
  into_iter().unzip() instead of cloning every 64-byte hash for the
  sync_blobs(&[String]) + UNNEST bind. Micro 256 -> 0 hash clones.

Verified: cargo clippy --features bench --all-targets -D warnings clean, cargo
fmt --all --check clean, cargo test --lib --features bench = 529 passed / 0
failed. The PG benches run against a local PostgreSQL 16 (schema applied from
migrations/); every equivalence gate passes.

The download_zip per-item N+1 (the audit's highest raw-latency candidate) is
deferred to a dedicated pass: its fix moves the sole authorization inside the
stream call, so it needs an AuthZ-ordering + anti-enumeration proof, not a perf
banner.

Claude 77f13ac643 perf: round 21 — CalDAV/CardDAV row-mapper pre-size, dedup hash-bind & digest-key dedup, CardDAV etag/BDAY emit, NC trashbin content-type
Round 21 of the benchmark-gated perf sweep. Six behaviour-preserving,
allocation-reducing changes, each with a BEFORE/AFTER counting-allocator
section in examples/bench_round21_micro.rs and a byte/-value equivalence
gate; all six pass their deterministic alloc gate (a non-winning AFTER
exits 1 = rollback).

- R1: pre-size the 16 CalDAV/CardDAV row-mapper Vecs (+1 HashMap) with
  Vec::with_capacity(rows.len()) — the ROUND20 §I1 file-side pattern
  extended to the calendar/contact repos it deferred. 7 → 1 allocs/op.
- R2: settle_batch binds a borrowed Vec<&str> instead of cloning every
  chunk hash into a Vec<String> (sqlx encodes &[&str] as text[]
  identically; favorites_pg_repository.rs:271 precedent). 33 → 1 allocs/op,
  39x wall.
- R3: store_loose_chunks keys its intra-request dedup set on the raw
  [u8;32] BLAKE3 digest and moves the hex on a duplicate (the ROUND17 §D2
  pattern applied to the delta-upload sibling). 401 → 209 allocs/op.
- R4: CardDAV getetag emits borrowed pre-escaped " quotes via a shared
  write_quoted_etag helper (ROUND20 §C1 pattern, all 4 CardDAV etag sites).
  3 → 0 allocs/op.
- R5: BDAY stamped via the new fmt::compact_date stack renderer instead of
  chrono's strftime interpreter (chrono fallback out of the 4-digit-year
  range; byte-identical, unit-tested vs chrono). 2 → 0 allocs/op, 10.5x wall.
- R6: NC trashbin folder content-type via Cow::Borrowed instead of
  .to_string() on the constant (ROUND16 §M1 pattern). 1 → 0 allocs/op.

See benches/ROUND21.md for the full write-up and the deferred-items list
(HeaderMap-clone hot handlers, Query→typed-struct, WebDAV dead-props
HashSet, and others surfaced by the audit that want their own validated
pass). Validated: cargo fmt, cargo clippy --features bench --all-targets
-D warnings, cargo test --lib --features test_utils (529 passed).

Claude c207e66f4b perf: round 17 — dedup ingest/verify hash-clone purge, CardDAV vCard TYPE tokens
Targets the content-addressable dedup write path (the ROUND15-deferred
"dedup_service hash-String re-allocations") from both ends — the streaming
ingest loop and the delta-commit verification read — plus a CardDAV vCard
micro-cut. Every change is benchmark-gated with a hard rollback rule; no
PostgreSQL needed for any arm (benches/ROUND17.md).

Backend (counting-allocator, examples/bench_round17_micro.rs):
- D2 chunk-ingest (store_from_stream, the hottest write path — every chunk of
  every upload): the 64-char hex hash String was allocated 3x per chunk
  (to_hex + chunk_hashes clone + session_seen insert-clone, the last dropped on
  a duplicate). The intra-upload dedup set now keys on the raw 32-byte BLAKE3
  digest ([u8;32], Copy, no heap) and the manifest push is branch-split so a
  duplicate moves the hex in: 3 -> 2 allocs/new chunk, 3 -> 1/duplicate.
  Measured 214 -> 149 allocs/op (1.14x wall) on a 64-chunk 1-in-2-dup batch;
  smaller/faster set too (32B inline keys vs 64B heap Strings).
- D1 hash_chunk_sequence (delta-commit verification): took chunks by
  &[(String,u64)] and fed the backend stream with iter().cloned(), re-cloning
  every chunk hash a second time on top of the owned Vec the caller already
  built. Take the Vec by value + into_iter(): 65 -> 0 internal allocs/op, ~2.5us
  of clone work removed per verify.
- V1 vCard TYPE tokens (contact_to_vcard + generate_vcard, 5 sites): each
  EMAIL/TEL/ADR TYPE= param used ty.to_uppercase() — a throw-away String per
  token per contact. New shared fmt::push_upper writes the upper-cased chars
  straight into the buffer (byte-identical to str::to_uppercase, unit-tested):
  13 -> 5 allocs/op, 1.19x wall.

Gates: each section asserts byte/-value equivalence (D2 the ordered manifest +
sizes + write-set; D1 the removed clone is a pure copy; V1 the full vCard) and
exits non-zero if an AFTER arm fails to reduce allocations. push_upper is
unit-tested byte-equal to str::to_uppercase (fmt::tests). Verified end-to-end:
cargo fmt clean, clippy --release --all-targets --features bench -D warnings
clean, and the harness prints GATE PASS against the built release lib.

Claude fdf445d2b0 perf: round 9 — decorator PUT reactivation, session/search/dedup alloc purges, PROPFIND join!, folder-level cascade
Benchmark-gated round (benches/ROUND9.md): every change carries a
BEFORE/AFTER bench with equivalence/safety gates; verdicts below are from
the committed harnesses on 4 cores / local PG 16.

Backend:
- Blob decorators (Retry/Cached) now forward put_blob_from_bytes_unsynced
  + sync_blobs — the trait default had silently reinstated HEAD-before-PUT
  per chunk on decorated remote stacks, undoing ROUND3 §8. Full production
  stack: 500 probes -> 0, 1.9x wall at 10 ms RTT (bench_s3_put §3).
- NC PROPFIND per-page enrichment triple (favorites / oc:fileid / dead
  props) overlapped with tokio::join!: 2.07x local, 2.86x at 5 ms RTT
  (bench_nc_enrich_join, injected-latency decide-by-bench).
- Search enrichment consumes its DTOs and carries the interned Arc<str>
  display fields end-to-end (SearchFileResultDto type change, OpenAPI
  shape preserved): enrich_file 2.0x, 11.6 -> 2.2 allocs/row; the NC
  REPORT conversion stops re-running all three classifiers per row
  (bench_search_enrich).
- NC session Arc end-to-end: SharedNcSession extractor (8 -> 0 allocs),
  Arc<FolderDto> chroot cache (4 -> 0/hit), single shared Arc<CurrentUser>
  + lazy span render (11 -> 6/build) (bench_nc_session).
- Storage micro-pack: atomic create_new chunk writes (2.1x fresh),
  stream_chunks over the manifest Arc (4097 -> 0 allocs/read incl. the
  Range path), manifest single-flight (herd 64 -> 1 loads), hex_lower for
  chunk Content-MD5 (18 -> 1 allocs) (bench_storage_micro).
- OCS capabilities memoized into OnceLock<[Bytes;2]>: 237x, 102 -> 0
  allocs/poll, byte-identical (bench_capabilities_static).
- Drive::is_empty COUNT(*) sum -> EXISTS: 34.4x on a 100k-file drive
  (bench_drive_is_empty).
- favorites/recents row-map ROUND7 port: path/name/blob_hash moved,
  -2.75 allocs/row (bench_resource_row_map §2).
- Folder rows decode binary UUIDs (ROUND6 §10 port): 1.03-1.07x page
  fetch, honest verdict incl. one noise-band wash documented
  (bench_folder_uuid_decode).
- Authz: file cascade decision decomposed into memoized folder-level
  decision + direct-grant lookup (ROUND8 deferred item). Cold shared-album
  first view 592 -> 418 µs/thumb; warm path unchanged; safety gates incl.
  new direct-grant sibling isolation, revoke-flush re-verified, full
  integration authz suite green (bench_thumbnail_cascade_cache).

Frontend (vitest gates committed beside the code):
- resolveLabel/resolveRecipient O(directory) scan -> id-keyed Map: 13.9x
  (recipients.bench.test.ts).
- ResourceList selection-prune effect skips when nothing is selected
  (100 -> 0 Set builds per drain) and the photos timeline reads a
  listener-fed mobile flag instead of matchMedia per recompute
  (listDerives.bench.test.ts).

Verification: cargo fmt + clippy --all-features --all-targets -D warnings
clean; 524 unit + 554 integration (--cfg integration_tests) tests pass;
frontend npm run check clean with 293 vitest tests green.

Deferred with rationale in ROUND9.md: CalDAV authz-before-fetch reorder
(maintainer sign-off), per-page batched parent resolution, JWT-claims
Arc<str>, batch_operations signature widening.

Claude 82ee7da0d2 perf: serve ranges from RAM cache, stream ZIPs, overlap ingest settle, O(1) chunk gate
Round 2 of benchmark-gated optimizations (benches/ROUND2.md; every change
gated by a before/after in examples/bench_round2.rs — an AFTER that did
not beat its BEFORE was to be rolled back; none needed it):

- Range requests (REST/DAV/shares) answered from the moka content cache
  for sub-10MB files: PG resolve + open/seek/read -> Bytes::slice.
  256KiB seeks: 1,730/s -> 3.7M/s (p50 552us -> 0.15us).
- Streaming folder/share ZIPs via tokio duplex: TTFB no longer scales
  with archive size (326ms -> 0.4ms on 192MiB corpus; total also faster).
  Content-Length dropped (size unknown up front).
- NC chunked-upload per-PUT gate: O(k) directory scan+stat -> in-RAM
  per-session counter (lazy rebuild on cold start). 1,000-chunk upload
  gate cost: 33.1s -> 0.09s cumulative.
- Delta download + commit-verify now use the CDC path's
  buffered(read_prefetch) read-ahead: 64-chunk drain at 5ms open
  latency 440ms -> 51ms; order preserved.
- CDC ingest settles batches on a spawned task (depth-1 pipeline) so
  the source stream keeps flowing during PG pin + backend writes;
  rollback ledger shared + lock-serialized so compensation stays exact
  on cancellation. 512MiB paced ingest: 60-69 -> 74-75 MB/s.
  OXICLOUD_INGEST_OVERLAP=0 restores inline settling (ops/bench hatch).
- Frontend: instant-upload BLAKE3 hashing moved off the main thread to
  a bounded Web Worker pool (File handles by reference); vitest gate
  asserts the pool beats sequential (first gate draft posting buffers
  was 2.6x slower and was rewritten — copies dominated).

Validation: cargo fmt + clippy -D warnings clean; 514 unit + 544
integration tests green; 270 frontend tests green.

Claude aba89c4f5d perf: eliminate N+1 hot-path queries, cache immutable lookups, stop re-compressing compressed bytes
Every change is benchmark-verified (harness + before/after numbers in
benches/, measured on this branch; reproduction commands in each doc):

DAV / sync-client hot paths
- PROPFIND dead-properties: one = ANY($1) query per 500-child page instead
  of one sequential query per child, and indexable `=` predicates instead
  of IS NOT DISTINCT FROM (seq scans). 2,000-child folder: 1.07-4.54 s of
  DB chatter -> 4-6 ms (258-773x). Applied to native + NC PROPFIND and
  both NC REPORT handlers. [benches/DEAD-PROPS.md]
- Folder paging: keyset cursor (name > $last) + new partial index
  (folder_id, name) replaces LIMIT/OFFSET full-folder rescan per page.
  Full 20k-file walk: 1266 ms -> 77 ms (16.5x). New migration
  20260917000000. [benches/PROPFIND-PAGING.md]
- NC chroot / default-drive resolution: moka caches (30 s TTL, explicit
  invalidation on drive mutations) for find_default_for_user and the
  markerless chroot FolderDto. 2 uncached queries + 2 pool checkouts per
  NC/WebDAV/WOPI request -> sub-us moka hit (p50 0.7-3.6 ms -> ~1 us).
  [benches/CHROOT-CACHE.md]
- Quota: PROPFINDs whose prop list never names a quota prop skip the
  2-query resolution entirely (wants_quota()); the remaining lookups read
  2 columns instead of the full auth.users row with its <=512 KiB avatar
  (11-16x, p50 3.4 ms -> 0.29 ms). Same narrow read now gates every
  upload quota check. [benches/QUOTA-PATH.md]

CPU on the request path
- ZIP exports (folder download, share ZIP, batch download): entries whose
  MIME says already-compressed (JPEG/MP4/zip/pdf/...) are Stored instead
  of Deflate - deflate ran inline on the tokio writer task at ~41 MB/s
  for ~0% size gain. Mixed media corpus: 4.31x wall and CPU, archive size
  unchanged. Shared predicate in common::mime_detect. [benches/ZIP-MEDIA.md]
- Compression layers: tower-http's default maps to Brotli QUALITY 11
  (verified in brotli-8.0.2 source and empirically: 90 ms per 64 KiB JSON
  response, 1.3 s per 700 KiB bundle). Both layers pinned to Precise(4):
  99x less CPU for ~15% more bytes. SPA assets are now precompressed at
  build time (scripts/precompress.mjs, 77% smaller) and served via
  ServeDir::precompressed_br/gzip: 2016x less per-request work, and
  clients get the better q11 bytes. [benches/STATIC-PRECOMPRESSED.md]

Batched / cached backend paths [benches/NPLUS1-AND-CACHES.md]
- Content-search ReBAC re-verification: new
  AuthorizationEngine::check_files_read_batch (default = old loop;
  PgAclEngine override batches drive resolution + reuses role cache).
  200 sequential point SELECTs per search -> 1-2 queries.
- Batch-ZIP subtree downloads: drop per-file re-authz + per-file Recent
  recording (2 writes/file) for subtree entries already authorized at the
  root - mirrors the native folder-download path. ~6,000 statements
  removed from a 2,000-file archive.
- CDC chunk manifests: immutable by content address, now moka-cached
  (weight-bounded 32 MiB, 60 s TTL, positive-only, invalidated on delete)
  - removes one manifest query (p50 0.44-4.4 ms) from every stream,
  range and full blob read.
- People tab: grouped COUNT + batched cover lookup instead of dragging
  every face row with its 2 KiB embedding (10k faces: 30.4 ms & 21 MB ->
  3.8 ms & 1.3 KB, 8.1x); merge() is one set-based UPDATE.
  [benches/PEOPLE-LIST.md]
- Photos timeline cursor: raw timestamptz comparison instead of
  EXTRACT(EPOCH ...) wrapper + IS NULL OR disjunction - cursor is an
  index boundary again, deep scroll stops re-scanning skipped rows.
- Public share landing: one atomic UPDATE ... access_count + 1 (was
  SELECT + full-row write-back: racy, lost updates, clobbered concurrent
  owner edits) - 3 round-trips -> 2 per visit.
- move_to_trash: dead full-entity SELECT feeding a documented no-op
  removed from both branches; dead fields dropped from TrashService.
- NFC normalization: is_nfc_quick fast path skips the decompose/recompose
  state machine for the ~100% already-NFC case (every row loaded from PG).

Frontend
- Large folders paint after page one (~200 items) via fetchFolderListing's
  new onPage hook instead of waiting for every sequential page.
- Tested-and-reverted (kept for the record): cached Intl.Collator for name
  sorts - vitest showed it 2x SLOWER than V8's argument-less localeCompare
  fast path (5.6 ms vs 12.1 ms / 5k names). Sort order untouched.

New bench harnesses under examples/ (bench feature): zip_media,
dead_props, chroot_cache, quota_path, people_list, propfind_paging,
static_precompress.

Edouard Vanbelle 206a780494 feat(drive): stop writing in {file,folder}.user_id
plan:

    ```
    What step 5 is actually doing
    Goal: stop writing to storage.files.user_id / storage.folders.user_id on new INSERTs. This is a prerequisite for step 6 (dropping the column entirely). The column has existed since the pre-D0 single-owner era; every read that used to key on it has already been migrated to drive-membership grants over the last N days.
Stamp `orphaned_at = now()` on the ref-0 row so it sits inside the
     `orphaned_at IS NULL` is treated by `garbage_collect` as
     "pre-migration, immediately reapable" — and any sibling test in
     the shared pool that calls `garbage_collect()` (e.g.
     `garbage_collect_respects_grace_and_cross_checks`) would race
     with the pin below and delete the row first.
DioCrafts f68972e368 perf(blob): one manifest query in read_blob_bytes instead of two
read_blob_bytes read the same storage.chunk_manifests PK row twice per
full-blob read — blob_size (SELECT total_size) then read_blob_stream
(SELECT chunk_hashes) — even though both columns live in one row. Fold
them into a single `SELECT chunk_hashes, total_size` and share the chunk
stream builder via a new stream_chunks helper. The legacy (no-manifest)
path is unchanged. Output is identical; the read just costs one fewer DB
round-trip.
Benchmark (examples/bench_blob_manifest.rs, isolates the manifest lookup
against the real Postgres): ~1.9x throughput and p50/p99 roughly halved on
that sub-step; the win is the removed round-trip under pool pressure during
upload bursts. Note this is the manifest sub-step only — end-to-end
read_blob_bytes is dominated by the actual chunk reads, and it is a
background path (thumbnail generation / EXIF / indexing), not normal gallery
serving. Methodology + honest framing in benches/BLOB-MANIFEST.md.
DioCrafts d98e3117b2 feat: delta/instant upload + frontend UI/UX polish
Bundles the backend+frontend delta-upload (content-dedup) feature with a
batch of frontend fixes from this session.
Upload / dedup:
- Client-hashed delta & instant upload (deltaUpload, hashWasm vendor shim)
- Backend dedup batch endpoint (dedup_service, dedup_handler, routes)
- session store owned-hash helpers; unit tests + upload-strategy bench
Frontend UI/UX:
- Colour file-type icons in grid/list (per-type tinted tiles + glyph hue)
- Robust thumbnail fallback; PDFs now show their type icon (backend
  generates no PDF thumbnails) instead of a blank tile
- Fix PDF preview: load via a same-origin blob: iframe — the API URL is
  blocked by the global X-Frame-Options: DENY in the browser's framed
  PDF viewer, matching the existing CSP `frame-src blob:` design
- Groups: localized virtual-group description (no DB schema-note leak),
  add nav.groups to the 15 missing locales, fix primary-button contrast
- Repoint --color-text-light → --color-on-accent (was faint grey on accent)
- Nudge the admin role badge off the user-menu header divider
Claude 9a6b174a30 Defer CDC chunk reclamation in manifest dereference to GC
remove_manifest_reference unlinked a chunk's backing file right after the
row-delete committed — the same TOCTOU the GC grace window was added to
close: a concurrent upload of identical content can re-reference (pin) the
chunk in the gap between commit and unlink, after which the deferred
unlink strands a referenced chunk with no bytes.
Route physical chunk reclamation through the single grace-protected path:
on last reference, delete the manifest and decrement its chunks (stamping
orphaned_at on the ones that reach 0), but leave the chunk rows and files
for garbage_collect() to reclaim once orphaned past the grace window. The
manifest deletion and its blob-keyed thumbnail hook stay eager.
remove_legacy_reference and cleanup_if_orphaned's legacy path are left as
eager deletes on purpose: a legacy whole-file hash can never be re-created
by an ingest (uploads are always CDC now), so there is no writer to race —
the existing "row gone ⇒ no resurrection" reasoning holds for them.
Adds an integration test asserting a CDC manifest dereference leaves
chunks orphaned-but-present, then reclaimed by a post-grace GC.
Claude e0efaed549 Harden blob GC and supervise the content-index worker
Deduplication GC (garbage_collect, Phase 2):
- Add an orphan grace period before a ref_count=0 blob's backing file is
  physically deleted, mirroring git's gc.pruneExpire. New
  storage.blobs.orphaned_at records when a blob last reached ref_count 0;
  the delete trigger and every decrement / 0-ref insert path stamp it,
  every re-reference clears it.
- Cross-check that no manifest lists the chunk and no file points at the
  blob before deleting it (mirrors Phase 1's file check), so a stale
  ref_count can only delay collection, never delete live content.
- Unlink the backing files with bounded parallel fan-out.
Together these close a TOCTOU where a concurrent upload of identical
content could re-reference a chunk in the window between the GC row
delete committing and the backing file being unlinked. Individual file
deletes still reclaim eagerly; only bulk empty-trash and the periodic
sweep observe the grace window.
Trash: match ErrorKind::NotFound instead of substring-matching the error
message when treating an already-deleted item as success.
Content-index worker: supervise the drain loop and restart it with
backoff after a panic, instead of letting a panic silently freeze the
search index while the dirty queue grows unbounded.
Adds migration 20260802000000_blob_gc_grace.sql and an integration test
covering the grace window and reference cross-checks.
Claude f70dffeaf5 perf(dedup): backend-aware chunk read-ahead for CDC reassembly
read_blob_stream / read_blob_range_stream reassembled a CDC file by fetching
its chunks with `buffered(1)` — strictly sequential, so the next chunk's
backend fetch (a file `open` locally; a full request round-trip on S3/Azure)
only started after the current chunk was fully drained.
A benchmark of the exact pipeline (stream::iter(chunks).map(get).buffered(K)
.try_flatten()) showed a blind `buffered(4)` is the WRONG fix: on a local
disk it is neutral on a warm page cache and ~37% SLOWER cold, because
concurrent opens turn one sequential read into several competing random-I/O
streams over content-addressed (scattered) chunk files. The win is entirely
on remote backends, where per-chunk request latency dominates and overlapping
fetches hide it (≈ linear in K).
So the read-ahead depth is now a backend hint, not a constant:
- BlobStorageBackend::read_prefetch() default 1 (sequential; safe for local).
- S3 / Azure override to 8 (overlap GETs to hide TTFB).
- cached / encrypted / retry / migration delegate to the backend that serves
  the bytes.
- Both CDC read paths use `self.backend.read_prefetch().max(1)`.
Net: local backend unchanged (no regression); remote reassembly ~4-8x faster.
Ordered `buffered` (not buffer_unordered) keeps chunks in sequence.
Bench (per-chunk fetch-latency model): buffered(1)->(4)/(8) = x3.9 / x7.8
@1ms, x4.0 / x8.1 @5ms, x4.0 / x8.0 @20ms. Local warm: 230ms@1 vs 227ms@4
(noise); local cold: 425ms@1 vs 585ms@4 (why local stays at 1).
Claude ed9a204e49 Delta download: file manifest + user-scoped chunk fetch for sync clients
Phase 3 of the delta-sync plan — the inverse direction, so a future
client app holding an older local version can fetch only what changed:
- GET /api/files/{id}/manifest returns the file's chunk recipe
  ({file_hash, total_size, chunks}). Owner-scoped like the rest of the
  delta surface (Read permission through the authz engine first, then
  the chunk layer's possession standard; shared files use the regular
  download endpoints). A manifest is immutable for a given file_hash,
  so it is served with ETag = file_hash and If-None-Match answers 304 —
  polling sync clients pay one header round-trip per unchanged file.
  Legacy pre-CDC blobs are presented as a single-chunk manifest of
  themselves, so clients need no special case.
- POST /api/files/delta/download streams the requested chunks as
  [u32 BE length][bytes] frames in request order — the same wire format
  the upload direction uses. Entitlement is the same possession rule as
  negotiate/commit (chunks reachable through the caller's own files);
  anything else returns 404 {not_available} — deliberately
  indistinguishable from "never existed" — with a
  delta_download.rejected audit event. Batches are bounded by the
  chunk_max_bytes budget; Content-Length is exact (sizes come from the
  dedup index) and peak RAM is one backend read frame.
Both endpoints share the delta rate limiter. New DedupService
primitives: manifest_chunk_list (with legacy fallback), chunk_sizes,
chunk_stream. OpenAPI regenerated; protocol doc gains the download
section; types.js maps the new wire shapes (plus the delta-upload
typedefs that a container reset had silently dropped from a previous
commit).
Verified end-to-end against PostgreSQL 16 with a simulated two-device
sync: device A uploaded 24 MB by bytes and delta-updated it (2 edits →
2 chunks); device B diffed the manifest against its WASM-chunked local
copy, needed 2/79 chunks, fetched 970 KB instead of 24 MB (96.1%
saved) and rebuilt the file byte-identical with the BLAKE3 verifying.
If-None-Match revalidation returned 304; a second user got 404 on both
the manifest and the chunk batch (with the not_available list and
audit lines); an unknown hash was indistinguishable from a denied one;
an empty hash list returned 400.
Claude 44967da7f1 Delta-upload protocol: negotiate chunks by hash, upload only what changed
Phase 1 of the delta-sync plan, server side. The CDC store already shares
unchanged chunks between file versions after the bytes arrive; these three
stateless endpoints move that detection to the client, so editing a few
bytes of a large file uploads ~1 MiB instead of the whole file:
- POST /api/files/delta/negotiate — given the file's chunk hashes, answer
  which ones the caller must upload. User-scoped and purely advisory.
- PUT  /api/files/delta/chunks — missing chunks as [u32 BE len][bytes]
  frames (streaming parse, ≤1 MiB per frame, chunk_max_bytes per request).
  Every hash is recomputed server-side; chunks land as ref_count=0 orphans
  that a commit pins or the periodic GC sweeps — no session table.
- POST /api/files/delta/commit — pin one reference per distinct chunk with
  a single UPDATE…RETURNING restricted to chunks the caller is entitled
  to (reachable through their own non-trashed files, or unreferenced
  orphans); anything else returns 409 {still_missing} for the client to
  upload and retry. The pinned sequence is then RE-READ and the whole-file
  BLAKE3 recomputed before any manifest exists — a declared file_hash is
  never trusted, because a forged manifest would poison future whole-file
  dedup hits for other users. The manifest accounting is shared with the
  byte path (attach_manifest, extracted from store_from_stream); the file
  row is created (201) or its content swapped by file_id (200). Owners of
  the exact file_hash short-circuit to a pure reference bump.
Supporting pieces: GIN index on chunk_manifests.chunk_hashes (containment
probes were sequential scans), claimable/pin/release/store-loose/verify
primitives on DedupService, update-by-id with Update-permission AuthZ on
FileUploadService, per-caller rate limiter (240/min), audit events with
stable reasons (rate_limited, chunk_verification_failed,
file_hash_mismatch), OpenAPI + docs/delta-upload-protocol.md, framing
parser unit tests and a PG-gated integration suite covering the
entitlement matrix (owned/foreign/orphan/unknown), orphan registration
and the verification read.
Verified end-to-end against PostgreSQL 16 with a node client hashing via
the vendored WASM: a 24 MB file delta-committed in 96 fixed-size chunks;
a 3-byte edit then negotiated missing 1/96 and synced with 278 KB on the
wire vs 24 MB (98.9% saved), downloading byte-identical. A second user
probing the same chunks got nothing (negotiate: all missing; commit: 409
with all 96 still withheld); a forged file_hash returned 400 plus the
audit line; a commit referencing one never-uploaded chunk returned 409
naming exactly that hash; the GIN index serves containment probes
(Bitmap Index Scan) once the planner favors it.
Claude e3f04d58aa Stream uploads directly into the CDC chunk store (no spool, single write)
Every upload surface previously wrote each byte to disk twice: the HTTP
body was spooled to a temp file (or assembled from chunk parts), then
mmap-re-read for FastCDC analysis, and finally the new chunks were
written to the blob backend. CDC could not start until the last byte
arrived, so large uploads paid receive + reread + rewrite latency.
The dedup engine now chunks, hashes and settles the stream WHILE it
arrives (fastcdc AsyncStreamCDC + incremental BLAKE3):
- Each batch of distinct chunks is pinned-or-classified by ONE
  `UPDATE … RETURNING` (no check-then-bump TOCTOU; pinned chunks can't
  be reclaimed mid-upload), and only chunks the store doesn't have are
  written — a full dedup hit performs zero content writes.
- Durability before visibility is preserved: one batched fsync sweep,
  then one batched INSERT, then the manifest. Identical concurrent
  uploads are resolved at the manifest INSERT via ON CONFLICT (the
  loser releases its references and becomes a dedup hit).
- A drop guard rolls back pins and surfaces written-but-unregistered
  chunks to GC if the request future is cancelled mid-stream.
- MIME sniffing now peeks the first bytes in-flight; client-requested
  MD5/SHA-256 checksums are computed by a stream tee — the post-upload
  re-read of the assembled file is gone.
All surfaces converge on the new interfaces::upload_ingest helper:
REST multipart, WebDAV PUT, NextCloud PUT, WOPI PutFile, the dedup
endpoint, and both chunked-upload completions (which now stream their
ordered parts straight into the store instead of writing an assembled
file — chunk parts persist until finalize, so completion is genuinely
retryable). The legacy blob re-chunk migration streams from the
backend with no spool file either.
Legacy removed: store_from_file + mmap CDC analysers + temp-path
plumbing through every port (pre_computed_hash, save_file_from_temp,
update_file_content_from_temp), upload_spool + assembled-file
assembly in both chunked services, create_file/update_file byte-slice
variants (no callers), common::temp, the OXICLOUD_UPLOAD_TMPDIR
config, and the memmap2 dependency.
Verified end-to-end against PostgreSQL 16: 8 MB upload (26 chunks),
identical re-upload (dedup hit, zero writes), 3-byte edit re-upload
(26 chunks, 1 written), byte-identical downloads, Range across chunk
boundaries, concurrent identical-upload race (manifest ref 2), and
trash-empty reclaiming exactly the unshared chunk while the shared 25
survive for the edited file. The empty/sub-8KB multipart path found a
post-EOF re-poll panic in the MIME peek (fixed with fuse + regression
test).
Claude 54c494419c Re-chunk pre-CDC legacy blobs into CDC manifests at startup
Files uploaded before chunk_manifests landed (20260414000000) are stored
as ONE whole-file blob with no manifest. Every legacy fallback in
DedupService exists to serve them, and the cost concentrates on Range
reads: with encryption enabled, seeking inside a legacy video decrypts
the ENTIRE blob (AES-GCM is all-or-nothing), where a CDC file decrypts
only the overlapping <=1 MiB chunks.
This adds a one-time, idempotent background migration (spawned from the
composition root after dedup init, maintenance pool) that converts each
legacy blob into a regular CDC file, indistinguishable from a native
upload:
  1. Spool the blob through the normal read path (decrypts when
     encryption is on) to a per-attempt-unique temp file, verifying
     BLAKE3 == hash; sizes come from the verified spool, never from the
     legacy storage.blobs.size column (the manifest's total_size drives
     Range arithmetic).
  2. CDC-chunk + store chunks via the existing store_chunks (one
     manifest reference per distinct chunk).
  3. One short accounting TX with the blob row locked: manifest INSERT
     with ref_count = N current file references, blob ref_count -= N,
     row deleted only at exactly 0 - so single-chunk files (chunk hash
     == file hash) keep the physical blob, which IS the chunk; only
     bookkeeping moves, no bytes are rewritten.
  4. Physical whole-file blob deleted only when its row dropped.
Races lean on the row lock: a concurrent identical upload landing a
legacy reference after commit keeps the blob row alive and that file
readable via the fallback (bounded space leak, never data loss); a
crash between chunk store and the TX over-counts one file's chunk refs
(also a bounded leak). Corrupt blobs (content != hash) are logged,
counted, excluded from the sweep and left untouched, with a hard cap
before aborting.
Per-hash failures never block the sweep; manifests are the resumability
marker, so a restart continues where it left off. The legacy read/write
fallbacks stay in place as the safety net while a deployment converges;
they can be deleted once fleets report "legacy re-chunk: nothing to do".
Opt-out via OXICLOUD_LEGACY_RECHUNK=false (documented in example.env)
for metered remote backends where the one-time re-read should be
scheduled deliberately.
Covered by five integration tests against real PostgreSQL (multi-chunk
accounting + Range across a chunk boundary, single-chunk physical-blob
preservation, corrupt-blob isolation, empty blob, and the full
encrypted-backend roundtrip); they run concurrently, which also
exercises the cross-sweep race handling.
Claude 9a181053bd perf(blobs): batch chunk fsyncs into one durability sweep per upload
Storing a new file through CDC dedup issued sync_all + a parent-dir
fsync for every ~256 KB chunk (~8,200 fsyncs for a 1 GB upload), plus
one PG INSERT round-trip per chunk. The actual durability boundary is
the manifest INSERT: chunks only need to be durable before any PG row
references them, not one by one.
- BlobStorageBackend grows put_blob_from_bytes_unsynced + sync_blobs
  with conservative defaults (unsynced delegates to the synced write,
  sync_blobs is a no-op) so backends that don't opt in keep the
  per-write durability semantics. Remote stores are durable on PUT.
- LocalBlobBackend writes chunks without fsync and implements
  sync_blobs as a parallel sweep: every listed blob file (hard
  requirement) plus each distinct prefix directory exactly once
  (best-effort, same tier as fsync_parent_dir).
- DedupService::store_chunks writes new chunks unsynced, runs one
  sync_blobs sweep, then registers all new chunks in ONE batched
  UNNEST INSERT - durability before visibility, and the per-chunk PG
  round-trips collapse into one.
- Encrypted/Migration decorators forward both methods so the
  optimization survives encrypted-local and live-migration stacks.
Claude 8dc528f403 fix(dedup): count chunk ref_count per distinct chunk, not per occurrence
store_chunks bumped storage.blobs.ref_count once per chunk *occurrence* (it
looped over the full chunk list, duplicates included), but
remove_manifest_reference decrements once per *distinct* chunk
(WHERE hash = ANY(chunk_hashes) matches each row a single time). For any file
that repeats a chunk -- zero-filled regions in disk/VM images, repeated
document structures, concatenated archives -- storing added +N while deleting
removed -1, so the blob's ref_count never returned to 0 and the chunk was
never garbage-collected: a permanent storage leak.
Count per distinct chunk on the store side too, matching deletion. This also
makes it faster:
- existing chunks: one batched `UPDATE ... WHERE hash = ANY($1)` instead of
  one UPDATE per occurrence;
- a brand-new chunk repeated within a file is read, uploaded and INSERTed
  once instead of once per occurrence.
The manifest still stores the full per-occurrence chunk sequence (needed to
reassemble the file). Forward fix: blobs already over-counted by the old path
stay over-counted (a reconcile/verify pass could recompute them), but the
bias is upward (leak), so no data is ever deleted early.
CDC tests pass (12); fmt + clippy clean.
Large uploads (e.g. ~800 MB ISOs) could OOMKill the process, even on
dedup hits, due to three separate full-file-in-memory paths:
- NextCloud PUT (/remote.php/dav) buffered the entire body in RAM via
  body::to_bytes before any dedup logic, then re-wrote and re-hashed it.
  Now streams the body to a temp file with incremental BLAKE3 and goes
  through update_file_streaming (shared spool helper with the native
  WebDAV PUT handler); peak heap is ~one HTTP frame regardless of size.
- DedupService::store_chunks materialized every new chunk's data in a Vec
  before uploading. Now reads each new chunk by positioned I/O
  (read_exact_at, off the runtime via spawn_blocking) just before its
  upload; peak heap bounded to ~CHUNK_UPLOAD_CONCURRENCY x CDC_MAX_CHUNK.
- The upload spool used the OS temp dir, often tmpfs/RAM in containers
  where its page-cache counts against the cgroup memory limit. Add
  OXICLOUD_UPLOAD_TMPDIR to point the spool at real disk.
Also collapse a pre-existing clippy collapsible_else_if in carddav_handler.
Edouard Vanbelle 73f0b0fa47 refactor(lifecycle hooks): simplify integration of new services
* make more coherent lifecycles
  * remove specific implementation on different handlers (they do not need to know existence of ThumbnailSerice nor AudioMetadataService)
  * reduce risk of orphean objects
  * ensure additional services are correctly wired (ex: Thumbnail generation was not covering all upload cases)
  * more details on docs/architecture/file-and-blob-lifecycle.md :
```rust
// application/ports/file_lifecycle.rs
pub trait FileLifecycleHook {

    fn on_file_created(file_id, blob_hash, content_type, is_new_blob);
    fn on_file_updated(file_id, blob_hash, content_type);
    fn on_file_copied(file_id, blob_hash, content_type, source_id)
    fn on_file_deleted(file_id);
}

// application/ports/blob_lifecycle.rs
pub trait BlobLifecycleHook {

    fn on_blob_created(blob_hash, content_type);
    fn on_blob_deleted(blob_hash);
}

Edouard Vanbelle 9f57776ec9 bugfix/thumbnails on update
Bug 1 & 2 (webdav_handler.rs handle_put() update branch):
  - After a successful file update via WebDAV PUT, if the content type is a supported image:
    a. delete_thumbnails(file_id) — evicts the stale moka cache entry
    b. Spawns a background task to read the new blob bytes and call generate_all_sizes_background_from_bytes

  Bug 3 & 4 (dedup_service.rs):
  - Added thumbnail_service: Option<Arc<ThumbnailService>> field with a with_thumbnail_service() builder
  - In remove_legacy_reference(): calls delete_blob_thumbnails(hash) when ref_count hits 0
  - In remove_manifest_reference(): calls delete_blob_thumbnails(file_hash) when manifest's last ref is dropped
  - Wired in di.rs — the thumbnail service is created before dedup service so the ordering works cleanly

Diocrafts 761d159a92 feat(dedup): CDC sub-file deduplication with FastCDC + parallel chunk storage + dedup skip
- Replace whole-file SHA-256 dedup with FastCDC 2020 content-defined chunking
  (min 64KB, avg 256KB, max 1MB) + BLAKE3 hashing
- Add chunk_manifests table (file_hash → chunk_hashes[] + chunk_sizes[])
- Add put_blob_from_bytes to BlobStorageBackend trait (all 7 backends)
- 3-phase store_chunks pipeline:
  Phase 0: batch-check existing chunks (single PG query)
  Phase 1: selective disk read (skip existing chunks entirely)
  Phase 2: parallel upload with buffer_unordered(8)
- CDC-aware read_blob_stream and read_blob_range_stream with legacy fallback
- Transactional manifest + chunk ref-count cascade on remove_reference
- 12 CDC tests (determinism, reassembly, contiguity, sub-file dedup, etc.)
- Update deduplication.md to reflect new architecture

Diocrafts cd3733b459 feat: pluggable storage backends (S3, Azure, local) with admin UI
Implement 4-phase external storage backends architecture:

Phase 1 - Foundation:
- BlobStorageBackend trait (application/ports/blob_storage_ports.rs)
- LocalBlobBackend: extracted all tokio::fs ops from DedupService
- S3BlobBackend: AWS SDK with custom endpoint support (MinIO, R2, B2)
- DedupService refactored to use Arc<dyn BlobStorageBackend>

Phase 2 - Admin Panel:
- StorageSettingsService with DB persistence + env override
- Storage tab in admin panel (backend selector, S3 form, provider presets)
- GET/PUT/POST endpoints for storage settings + connection test
- i18n keys (en/es) and BEM CSS

Phase 3 - Migration:
- MigrationBlobBackend decorator (dual-read: target-first + source fallback)
- Background migration job with parallel transfers + progress tracking
- Migration UI (progress bar, ETA, pause/resume/verify/complete)
- 6 admin API endpoints for migration lifecycle

Phase 4 - Enterprise Extras:
- CachedBlobBackend: LRU disk cache for remote backends
- EncryptedBlobBackend: AES-256-GCM at-rest encryption
- AzureBlobBackend: Azure Blob Storage support
- RetryBlobBackend: exponential backoff for transient errors
- Decorator composition in DI: retry → encryption → cache

All 223 tests passing, clippy clean, fmt verified.
