Benchmark-gated (equivalence + BEFORE/AFTER; results + reproduce commands in
benches/ROUND7.md):
- Photos timeline re-grouped + re-laid-out the whole accumulated library on
every 60-item page (both `groups` and `photoRows` were $derived over the
full list), Σ ≈ O(N²/60) main-thread work during a scroll. Pages arrive
newest-first so grouping is append-only: the new PhotoTimeline
(lib/utils/photoTimeline.ts) re-buckets only the fresh page and re-lays-out
only changed groups, reusing untouched groups' cached rows, falling back to
a full rebuild on any config/deletion/non-append change. The pure
buildPhotoRows is the verbatim reference the gate holds it equal to at every
page. 50×60 drain: 76 500 → 3 000 grouping ops (25.5x), 23.0 → 2.2 ms
(10.6x).
- Range downloads paid authz + access-notify twice: download_file_impl
resolves the file via get_file_with_perms, then the Range branch re-ran
require_file + notify_file_accessed per request. Media/PDF viewers fetch
exclusively via Range (one request per seek), so every seek in a scrub
re-authorized an already-cleared file. Now routed through the non-perms
get_file_range_preloaded (matching the share-landing + WebDAV range paths);
the unused _with_perms range method is removed. The request-level gate still
denies before the branch runs (bench asserts member granted, outsider
denied). Per seek removed: WARM 0.67 µs, COLD 1362.66 µs — a grant-cascade
drive-resolve query per seek for a shared-drive recipient on a cold cache.
- /api/folders/{id}/resources row→DTO mapping cloned row.name into the DTO
though the row is owned; folders move it (fixed icons), files compute the
name-derived icon/category classes first then move it. 500-row page:
10.004 → 9.004 allocs/row (500 clones removed), output identical.
Deferred with rationale in ROUND7.md: thumbnail ACL-before-304 (security
posture — needs a security review, not a perf tweak), batch_operations
Arc<str>→String widening, list-view O(N²) on smaller lists, and the serial→
join! pairs (decide-by-bench with injected latency, per the round-6 rejection).

Round 2 of benchmark-gated optimizations (benches/ROUND2.md; every change
gated by a before/after in examples/bench_round2.rs — an AFTER that did
not beat its BEFORE was to be rolled back; none needed it):
- Range requests (REST/DAV/shares) answered from the moka content cache
for sub-10MB files: PG resolve + open/seek/read -> Bytes::slice.
256KiB seeks: 1,730/s -> 3.7M/s (p50 552us -> 0.15us).
- Streaming folder/share ZIPs via tokio duplex: TTFB no longer scales
with archive size (326ms -> 0.4ms on 192MiB corpus; total also faster).
Content-Length dropped (size unknown up front).
- NC chunked-upload per-PUT gate: O(k) directory scan+stat -> in-RAM
per-session counter (lazy rebuild on cold start). 1,000-chunk upload
gate cost: 33.1s -> 0.09s cumulative.
- Delta download + commit-verify now use the CDC path's
buffered(read_prefetch) read-ahead: 64-chunk drain at 5ms open
latency 440ms -> 51ms; order preserved.
- CDC ingest settles batches on a spawned task (depth-1 pipeline) so
the source stream keeps flowing during PG pin + backend writes;
rollback ledger shared + lock-serialized so compensation stays exact
on cancellation. 512MiB paced ingest: 60-69 -> 74-75 MB/s.
OXICLOUD_INGEST_OVERLAP=0 restores inline settling (ops/bench hatch).
- Frontend: instant-upload BLAKE3 hashing moved off the main thread to
a bounded Web Worker pool (File handles by reference); vitest gate
asserts the pool beats sequential (first gate draft posting buffers
was 2.6x slower and was rewritten — copies dominated).
Validation: cargo fmt + clippy -D warnings clean; 514 unit + 544
integration tests green; 270 frontend tests green.

What step 5 is actually doing
Goal: stop writing to storage.files.user_id / storage.folders.user_id on new INSERTs. This is a prerequisite for step 6 (dropping the column entirely). The column has existed since the pre-D0 single-owner era; every read that used to key on it has already been migrated to drive-membership grants over the last N days.

An audit (backend /api routes vs SvelteKit frontend usage, adversarially
verified across the whole repo) found these 5 routes have ZERO callers — no
frontend, no test, no protocol layer, no internal caller — and are superseded:
- GET /api/folders/paginated no-op duplicate of GET /api/folders
(discards the page arg); superseded by
the cursor-paginated /{id}/resources.
- POST /api/dedup/upload superseded by /api/files/upload, which
does the identical CDC dedup ingest.
- POST /api/people/{id}/hide the hide-person toggle was never built
into the UI (is_hidden never read).
- GET /api/admin/settings/general never called anywhere.
- GET /api/admin/settings/registration only the PUT is used; the GET had no
caller (PUT kept).
Removes each route, its handler + _impl, the now-orphaned DedupUploadResponse
DTO + its two serialization tests, the set_hidden service method (only caller
was hide_person), and the OpenAPI path/schema registrations.
Also cleans 4 stale markers: two #[allow(deprecated)] that no longer suppress
anything (zero #[deprecated] remain), the "Legacy folder endpoints (contents,
listing)" comment (both already removed), and a "Re-export AppError for backward
compatibility" comment describing a re-export that doesn't exist.
Net -323 lines. The 31 other unused-by-frontend routes (device-code auth,
CardDAV contact-groups, people/photos & music WIP, dedup/admin debug, i18n,
openapi.json) are intentional surface and were left untouched.
cargo clippy --all-features --all-targets -D warnings: clean. cargo test: 446 passed.

The SvelteKit app under /frontend has fully superseded the legacy
vanilla-JS/CSS frontend in /static, which was only ever served by a
debug `cargo run` / `PROFILE=dev` and never shipped to production.
Remove it together with the whole subsystem that existed only to
support it (~54k lines).
Frontend & assets:
- Delete /static (js/, css/, *.html, sw.js, basemaps/, locales symlink).
- Relocate the brand/PWA assets (logo/, favicon.ico, manifest.webmanifest)
to frontend/static/ so they ship with the SPA. This also fixes the
favicon, which app.html referenced but was missing from the prod bundle.
- Migrate the Nextcloud login-flow redirects from /nextcloud-error.html
to the SvelteKit /nextcloud/error route.
Web layer:
- Simplify resolve_static_path: drop the PROFILE=dev branch; always prefer
the Vite static-dist/ build, fall back to the configured path.
- Resolve i18n locales from the served SPA dir with a frontend/static
fallback so `just dev` works without a prior build.
Build:
- Prune build.rs from 1262 to ~70 lines (git metadata only); the Rust asset
pipeline and the OXICLOUD_RUST_ASSETS rollback flag are gone.
- Drop the now-unused build-dependencies (oxc_*, lightningcss).
- Remove the COPY static lines from the Dockerfile (cacher + builder).
Tooling & docs:
- Delete biome.json, jsconfig.json, tools/check-*.py, identifier.sh.
- Remove the legacy front-* justfile recipes; repoint the design-system
scripts (locales, dead-tokens, brand-drift, token-docs) at the frontend,
and drop check-contrast/check-headings (coupled to the old token
taxonomy / multi-page HTML).
- Repoint docs/DESIGN-SYSTEM.md links; remove 5 superseded docs/plan/*.
Backend dead code:
- Remove the dead `folder_repo` field from FileBlobWriteRepository.
- Remove the deprecated GET /api/folders/{id}/listing endpoint
(superseded by /resources).
Verified: cargo clippy (all-features/all-targets) clean, cargo test
--workspace 448 passed, cargo fmt clean.

The normalized cursor-paginated /resources API is live and the bundled
frontend already uses it for favorites, recent, trash and grants. These five
deprecated old-format endpoints had no remaining frontend or protocol
consumers (the Nextcloud handlers call the service layer directly, not these
HTTP routes), so remove them for a uniform API and less duplicate listing
logic:
- GET /api/folders/{id}/contents → use /api/folders/{id}/resources
- GET /api/folders/{id}/contents/paginated → use /api/folders/{id}/resources
- GET /api/favorites → use /api/favorites/resources
- GET /api/recent → use /api/recent/resources
- GET /api/trash → use /api/trash/resources
Removes the HTTP handlers, their routes, OpenAPI path registrations, and the
now-dead list_folder_contents{,_paginated}_impl helpers + unused imports. The
underlying service methods (favorites_service.get_favorites,
trash_service.get_trash_items, etc.) are KEPT — the Nextcloud OCS/trashbin
handlers depend on them.
Deliberately NOT removed: GET /api/folders/{id}/listing. It is still the Files
view's primary data path and offers ETag/304 conditional caching plus
one-shot favorite/share badge sets that /resources does not yet provide;
migrating it needs a separate parity pass on /resources first.
Updates the OpenAPI structure test and the two docs that referenced the
removed paths. `cargo clippy -D warnings` clean; 443 lib tests pass; OpenAPI
regenerates with the 5 paths gone and the /resources replacements present.

The folder listing now carries the favorite/share badge state for exactly the
items it returns, so the files browser stops fetching favorites and outgoing
shares separately. This removes the last per-navigation badge round-trips AND
fixes the correctness hole of the previous approaches: badges were derived from
only the first 200 global favorites / shares, so a favorited or shared item
outside that window showed no badge. Now every listed item is correct, and the
work is scoped to the items on screen.
Backend (`GET /api/folders/{id}/listing`):
- `FolderListingDto` gains `favorite_ids` and `shared_ids` (sorted) — listing-
level metadata, so no churn to the many FileDto/FolderDto constructors.
- The handler computes both with two batched, index-backed queries run
concurrently: `FavoritesService::favorited_ids` (auth.user_favorites, ANY) and
`PgAclEngine::shared_resource_ids` (storage.role_grants by granted_by + ANY,
which already covers public links as 'token' grants — same membership the
/grants/outgoing/resources endpoint exposes). Both fold into the ETag.
- Public-share browsing passes empty sets (anonymous, read-only context).
Frontend:
- `listFolder` reads `favorite_ids` / `shared_ids`; the files view seeds local
badge sets straight from the listing and updates them optimistically on
favorite toggle / batch / share creation (via ShareDialog's `onshared`).
- Removes the session `badges` store + its fetches entirely — the listing is now
the single, authoritative, fetch-free source.
Net: favorite/share badges cost zero extra client requests per navigation and
are correct regardless of how many favorites/shares the user has. Validated:
cargo check + clippy -D warnings (backend; integration tests need Postgres,
unavailable here), frontend npm run check + unit tests, and a headless render of
the real files route (list + grid) with the new flags present — no errors.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01M8Vb9QHmLZnEMzHz7MrFy6
- JWT secret auto-generates and persists to <STORAGE_PATH>/.jwt_secret
- Remove setup token: first admin setup is open until system initialized
- Fix schema.sql: move CREATE EXTENSION pg_trgm/ltree to top
- Update login UI and auth.js to remove setup token fields
- Add type aliases (FileRow, FolderRow, FolderRowPaginated, FolderRowOptUser) to reduce type complexity
- Simplify redundant closures in app_password_handler and webdav_handler
- Remove needless borrow in auth_handler
- Collapse nested if/let chains in login_lockout, webdav_lock, auth, rate_limit
- Box LockEntry in acquire() Err variant to fix large enum variant warning
- Rename DeviceCodeStatus::from_str to parse to avoid should_implement_trait lint
- Add #[allow(clippy::too_many_arguments)] and #[allow(clippy::result_unit_err)] where appropriate
- Convert integration_tests from cargo feature to custom cfg attribute
- Add check-cfg lint config in Cargo.toml for integration_tests cfg
Remove async-trait dependency and use native Rust async fn in traits.
Replace Arc<dyn Trait> with Arc<ConcreteType> throughout the codebase
to enable monomorphization and eliminate dynamic dispatch overhead.
Key changes:
- Remove write-behind cache (no implementation existed)
- Fix should_transcode static method call
- Use ContactStorageAdapter directly instead of dyn AddressBookUseCase
- Clean up unused trait imports across services and DI

Use NamedTempFile::into_parts() to reuse the existing fd instead of
opening a second one, and store TempPath in response extensions so the
file is only deleted after the body stream finishes.
Before: temp_file was dropped when the handler returned (before Axum
streamed the body). Worked only by accident on Unix (unlinked files
remain readable while an fd is open) but used 2 fds and was fragile.
After: single fd, explicit lifetime guarantee, cross-platform correct.
- Delete cache.rs middleware that buffered entire response bodies (up to 10MB)
in RAM on every cache miss, defeating streaming and causing memory spikes
- Also buffered non-GET responses unnecessarily via response_map_body()
- Add lightweight ETag support (based on max modified_at + count) to:
- FolderHandler::list_folder_listing (combined folder+files endpoint)
- FileHandler::list_files_query (file listing endpoint)
- Both support If-None-Match / 304 Not Modified without any body buffering
- File downloads already had ETag/304 support at handler level
- Service-level caches (FileContentCache, SearchService, ThumbnailService)
remain unchanged — they handle caching without HTTP body materialization
Solution C - Hybrid temp-file streaming:
- ZipPort trait now returns NamedTempFile instead of Vec<u8>
- ZipService writes to a temp file via ZipWriter<std::fs::File> (O(1) RAM)
- Files are read in 64KB stream chunks via get_file_stream() instead of get_file_content()
- HTTP response streams the temp file via ReaderStream (never loads full ZIP in memory)
- Temp file auto-deleted on drop after response completes
- Removed dead imports (HeaderName, HeaderValue, Cursor, Read)
Run `cargo fmt` across all Rust source files to enforce consistent
formatting (import ordering, line wrapping, match arm braces).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
V1: Add owner-scoped folder pagination (list_folders_by_owner_paginated)
- New method in FolderRepository trait, PG implementation, service & handler
- Prevents IDOR by filtering folder listings to authenticated user
V2: Enforce ownership checks on folder mutations
- rename_folder, move_folder, delete_folder now require caller_id
- Service verifies folder.owner_id == caller_id (returns 404 on mismatch)
- Propagated to folder_handler, batch_handler, batch_operations, webdav_handler
- delete_folder_with_trash upgraded from OptionalAuthUser to AuthUser
- download_folder_zip now checks ownership before streaming
V3: Fix XSS in frontend via DOM APIs
- sharedView.js: innerHTML → createElement + textContent
- contextMenus.js: innerHTML → DOM construction for share dialog
Cleanup: removed unused OptionalAuthUser import, updated all stubs/mocks
Root cause: when window.app.currentPath was empty/falsy (due to timing,
page state reset, or initialization), the frontend sent parent_id: null.
The backend then created folders at the storage root instead of inside
the user's home folder.
Backend fix (folder_handler.rs):
- Added AuthUser extractor to create_folder handler
- When parent_id is None, auto-resolves the user's home folder
('My Folder - {username}') as the parent folder
- Folders are now always created inside the user's directory tree
Frontend fix (fileOperations.js):
- Changed parent_id fallback from null to window.app.userHomeFolderId
- Prevents sending null parent_id even if currentPath is reset
Search in subfolders: no fix needed — search_recursive() already
traverses the filesystem correctly; it was only failing because folders
were physically flat instead of nested.
Bumps service worker cache to v12.
Standardize code formatting across all 173 Rust source files
using rustfmt. No functional changes - purely cosmetic.
This establishes a consistent code style baseline for the
project going forward.
Non-admin users were seeing all users' root folders, including the
admin's. Three root causes fixed:
1. Backend: list_root_folders now extracts AuthUser and filters
results so each user only sees their own home folder at the
root level (folders matching 'My Folder - {username}' or
'Mi Carpeta - {username}').
2. Frontend: findUserHomeFolder() searched only for the Spanish
pattern 'Mi Carpeta - {username}' but the backend creates
folders with the English pattern 'My Folder - {username}'.
Now checks both naming conventions.
3. Frontend: when the home folder was not found, the code fell
back to folderList[0] — which was usually the admin's folder.
Removed that dangerous fallback; now shows empty root instead.
Fixes#94
- Fix rename: context menu was nullifying target reference before rename dialog could use it
- Fix delete files/folders: auth extractors were mandatory, causing 401 when auth not configured
- Fix view-file: async fetch race condition with context menu cleanup
- Fix orphaned ID mappings on file deletion
- Fix Authorization: Bearer null headers sent without token
- Add OptionalUserId and OptionalAuthUser infallible extractors
